A growing tax preparation firm based in Brooklyn Brooklyn is seeking an experienced Tax Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in personal and business tax preparation, along with experience adjusting books and financial statements to produce accurate final tax returns. This role involves direct client interaction, complex tax work, and hands-on involvement with multi-state filings, tax notices, and IRS audits.
Responsibilities
Prepare individual and business tax returns
Calculate tax payments and estimates, including deductibles, liabilities, and expenses
Review client data and reports to identify potential errors or discrepancies
Respond to tax and finance related inquiries
Handle tax notices and audits from the IRS and various states
Requirements
3–5 years of experience as a Tax Preparer or in a similar role
Proficiency with tax preparation software (UltraTax preferred)
Strong computational and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced office environment
