Assistant to Embroidery Artist (Large-Scale, Non-Automated Work)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Location: Remote (work-from-home) after initial training
Schedule: Flexible, deadlines-based
Compensation:
$15/hr during training
$17–$18/hr after completion of first sellable piece (assessment-based)
About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled artist to execute large-scale, non-automated embroidered artworks using a sewing machine. You’ll be trained directly in the artist’s specialized techniques, including:
Free-motion embroidery
Fabric appliqué
Layered textile illustration and thread painting
This position requires advanced artistic ability, strong sewing proficiency, and a passion for creating detailed, expressive textile artwork.

You must be someone who:
Is a self-starter with excellent time management
Has a strong work ethic and can work independently
Communicates clearly, professionally, and often
Asks questions and is ready to learn
Has acute attention to detail and can maintain consistent quality
Takes direction well
Can reliably meet deadlines
Has both artistic skill and sewing ability, with artistic ability weighed most heavily
Training Structure
5 days of in-person training at one of our gallery locations (travel expenses covered)
Followed by 1–2 weeks at home working on practice pieces until techniques are mastered
Once your first sellable piece is completed and evaluated, your starting pay rate will be set ($17–18/hr depending on skill)
Application Requirements
-Cover letter explaining why you’re interested in the position
-Résumé or summary of related experience
-Art portfolio with at least 3 examples of representational artwork
-2 examples of sewing work done on a machine
- Any additional images of artwork that show your skill and personal style


Compensation: $15/hr through training, $17-18/hr starting
