Busy Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery office in Brooklyn is seeking F/T Medical/Surgical Dental Assistant to join our team
Qualifications:
Must be friendly, able to work in a fast-paced environment
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be punctual, professional, and a team player
Must be respectful to doctors and co-workers, patients and families from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds
Must be willing and able to learn new skills
Valid CPR certification preferred
Knowledgeable of Word and Excel preferred
Bilingual a plus- please indicate in your resume or cover letter
Duties and Responsibilities:
Surgical Assistant:
Accompanies patients to examination/procedure room, assists patients as needed with walking and transferring
Acts as a patient advocate
Obtains vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate
Prepares patients for procedures
Provides set-up of examination/procedure room and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by office and infection control policies
Prepares consent forms
Assists surgeon during surgery
Assists and monitors patients in the recovery room
Provides patients' with discharge instructions
Maintains examination/surgical room insuring cleanliness and proper stock of necessary supplies
Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation and other hazardous substances; handles and disposes sharps appropriately
Complies with OSHA, HIPPA rules and regulations
