Kids' Canvas is a specialized early childhood educational environment. Our current location is licensed for children ages 2-5. We are opening a new infant/toddler center, with one preschool classroom. We use art, music, movement, science, and nature as tools for creative discovery and learning. Our curriculum is based on Reggio Emilia and Emergent Curriculum, and encourages children’s natural need to play, create, and socialize and provides them with a warm and nurturing environment to express themselves. We focus on social-emotional development and like to follow the lead of our students and give them the freedom to explore their physical and imaginative worlds, while working alongside them.
About The Role:
We are looking for an Education Director to serve as the head of the operations for the new infant/toddler and preschool center. The position is a year round, full time administrative position, and will oversee daily operations, admissions, and staff.

Duties include but not limited to:
Manage employees through hiring and onboarding, providing guidance and performance feedback, and conducting ongoing training throughout the year
Oversee admissions through registering new families and maintaining updated paperwork for all staff and students
Conduct tours and orientations for new families
Oversee the maintenance to ensure a clean and safe environment for students and employees
Keep center compliant under DOH Article 47, FDNY and DOB requirements
Conduct fire drills
Connect with our community and introduce the school to new audiences through marketing initiatives such as: newsletters, social media posts, branded swag items, and other creative ways to get the word out about Kids’ Canvas
Qualifications:
NYS certification in Early Childhood or Elementary Education - mandatory
Minimum 3 years teaching experience with infants through preschool age
2 years experience as Educational Director for NYC licensed daycare
Must have or obtain within one month of employment: Food Protection Certificate; CPR/First Aid Certification; F07, F01, and S95 FDNY Certificate of Fitness
