Planted Café is a vegetarian (mostly vegan) café and community space in Carroll Gardens. We serve specialty coffee, whole-food fare, beer & wine, and host consistent neighborhood events.
We are hiring a full-time Barista with leadership and operational capacity.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who wants responsibility and growth.

Role Overview
You will work as a lead-level barista while supporting operational and marketing systems.
Responsibilities include:
• Producing high-quality espresso drinks with consistency and efficiency
• Dialing in espresso and maintaining equipment standards
• Opening/closing procedures and DOH compliance
• Updating the POS system (menu edits, pricing, modifiers)
• Assisting with menu change implementation
• Creating and editing simple promotional materials
• Reviewing and editing Instagram content
• Managing Spothopper backend (reservations, marketing updates)
• Supporting event promotion and in-house execution
We are looking for someone comfortable taking ownership — not waiting to be told what to do.

Requirements
• Valid NYC Food Handler’s Certificate
• Minimum 2 years professional barista experience
• Strong technical espresso skills
• Organized and systems-minded
• Comfortable with POS platforms and basic marketing tools
• Professional, punctual, steady
