South Brooklyn | Part-Time (various locations)
A trio of small, locally owned businesses in South Brooklyn is looking for a reliable, meticulous, and hardworking Porter / Cleaning Associate to help keep our spaces clean, organized, safe, and welcoming.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, notices the little things, and enjoys working independently while communicating clearly with a team. We’re looking for someone trustworthy and dependable who can take ownership of their responsibilities and keep our spaces looking their best.
Responsibilities
Daily cleaning & maintenance may include:
Sweeping and mopping floors
Sweeping exterior areas and sidewalks
Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms and toilets
Cleaning kitchen equipment and appliances
Wiping windows, inside and out
Wiping down bar bottles, counters, shelves, and other surfaces
Emptying garbage, moving large garbage/recycling bins, breaking down boxes in and out of spaces
Cleaning heavy rubber floor mats
Communicating promptly about maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or low cleaning and paper supplies
Keeping cleaning supplies organized and letting the team know when something needs to be replenished
Weekly / monthly deep-cleaning may include:
Sweeping and mopping basement areas
Cleaning and organizing shelves
Cleaning refrigerators and other large equipment
Tackling other periodic deep-cleaning and maintenance projects as needed
Schedule
Cobble Hill: 1.5 to 2 hours between 4:00am–6:00am, 2–3 days/week
Prospect Lefferts Gardens: 1.5 to 2 hours between 6:00am–10:00am, 2–3 days/week
Windsor Terrace: 1.5 to 2 hours between 10:00am–1:00pm, 6 days/week
The schedule may vary slightly depending on the needs and seasonality of each location.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Meticulous and detail-oriented. You notice what others might overlook.
Reliable and punctual. We need someone we can count on to show up and get the work done.
Trustworthy. You’ll be working independently in our spaces, sometimes before or after regular business hours.
Self-motivated. Able to identify what needs to be done without constant supervision.
Cooperative and kind. Comfortable working around and communicating with a small team.
An excellent communicator. You’ll let us know when something needs attention, supplies are running low, or you encounter a problem.
Comfortable with physical work. Including lifting/moving garbage bins, bending, kneeling, and cleaning floors and equipment.
Previous professional cleaning, porter, janitorial, restaurant, or hospitality experience is a plus, but reliability, care, and attention to detail are most important to us. We are willing to train the right person.
