Black Forest Brooklyn is looking for experienced bartenders and servers who are ready to take the next step into a Front of House Captain role.
It’s an exciting time at Black Forest, with Oktoberfest and our busy fall and holiday season ahead, and we’re looking for great people who want to grow with our team long term.
This is not a management position. Captains are scheduled and work full shifts as a server or bartender, with their own section or bar responsibilities, while also taking on additional shift-lead responsibilities.
This is an ideal next step for a strong bartender or server who is ready for more responsibility and wants to develop their leadership skills. Previous management experience is not required.
We’re looking for someone who leads by example — someone who works hard alongside the team, notices what needs to be done, and helps maintain standards without simply directing others.
Please attend the open call only if you have at least 2 years of full-service restaurant or bartending experience.
The Role
**Full-time (5 shifts) • 40 hrs/week**
**Approx. $1,500/week (~$80k/year) including tips (before taxes)**
As FOH Captain, you’ll be scheduled as a bartender or server and fully work that position throughout your shift. In addition to your regular service responsibilities, you’ll help run pre-shift, make sure opening and closing standards are met, handle guest and staff issues as they arise, and help keep the shift organized.
Captains typically work primarily at one location but may occasionally support our other venues.
## Responsibilities
• Work full shifts as a bartender or server
• Lead and support the FOH team during service
• Run quick pre-shifts covering specials, 86s, and priorities
• Make sure opening and closing duties are completed properly
• Serve guests, run food, and jump in wherever needed during busy service
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and DOH standards
• Handle comps, voids, guest issues, and cash responsibly
• Help maintain a positive, focused team culture
## What We’re Looking For
• 2+ years of experience in a full-service restaurant or bar
• Strong bartender and/or server experience
• Ready to take on more responsibility and develop leadership skills
• Comfortable both behind the bar and on the floor
• Calm, confident, and organized under pressure
• Professional, reliable, and team-oriented
• Strong hospitality instincts
• Previous management experience is not required
