BROOKLYN DOP IS HIRING COUNTER CREW
Brooklyn DOP is a premium Brooklyn slice shop built around serious pizza, real hospitality, and a crew that knows how to move.
We’ve been ranked among the best slice shops in the country by 50 Top Pizza, but awards aren’t the job. The job is executing at that level every day.
Counter Crew is the front line of the shop. You run the guest experience, POS, slice service, drinks, pickup and delivery flow, order handoff, and communication with the pizza station.
You need to be fast, accurate, clean, warm, and calm under pressure.
We don’t do fake corporate hospitality. We do Brooklyn hospitality — confident, inclusive, relaxed, sharp, and real.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
* Welcome guests and keep service moving with genuine energy.
* Operate the POS for walk-in, pickup, delivery, and phone orders.
* Handle payments accurately and responsibly.
* Know the menu and help guests order quickly and confidently.
* Slice, plate, serve, and expo pies properly.
* Stage and hand off pickup and delivery orders accurately.
* Communicate ticket timing, 86s, special requests, and rush flow with the Pizza Crew.
* Keep drinks, paper goods, condiments, wine/beer, and FOH supplies stocked.
* Maintain a clean counter, dining area, beverage station, and guest space.
* Support midfield during rushes — run food, organize pickups, solve problems, and keep traffic moving.
* Execute opening, shift-change, and closing checklists completely.
* Clean as you go instead of waiting for someone else to handle it.
* Suggest drinks, dips, desserts, wine/beer, and other add-ons naturally when they improve the guest’s order.
Everyone owns the shop. If something needs doing, you don’t walk past it.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You don’t need years of pizza experience.
You do need:
* Strong reliability and punctuality.
* Full-time availability.
* Weekend availability.
* Ability to work busy nights and high-volume shifts.
* Speed without getting sloppy.
* Attention to detail.
* Natural warmth with guests without sounding scripted.
* Strong communication with both guests and the kitchen.
* A clean and organized way of working.
* Comfort learning POS and restaurant systems.
* Ability to stay composed when the shop gets slammed.
* A team-first mentality.
* Accountability — if you make a mistake, own it and fix it.
Restaurant, counter, barista, retail, hospitality, or POS experience is a plus, but character, reliability, and attitude matter more than having the perfect résumé.
FOOD SAFETY
A valid NYC Food Protection Certificate / Food Handler certification is preferred.
Don’t have it yet? We’re still interested in the right person.
You must be willing to obtain your certification as you advance with Brooklyn DOP. Food safety, cleanliness, labeling, organization, and sanitation are part of the job — not somebody else’s responsibility.
PAY + GROWTH
Starting base pay: $17/hr + tips.
Tips currently average approximately $5.50/hr, putting typical starting hourly earnings around $22.50/hr.
As you develop more skills and take on more responsibility, base pay can grow toward $20/hr + tips.
We don’t give raises just because someone has been here for a certain amount of time.
Growth is earned through:
* Skill
* Reliability
* Accuracy
* Food safety certification
* Communication
* Hospitality
* Leadership
* Ability to handle rushes
* Training other crew
* Taking ownership of your station
Strong Counter Crew can grow into Core Counter, Lead Counter/Midfielder, FOH Supervisor, and eventually FOH Management.
If you want more responsibility and can prove you’re ready for it, there is room to grow.
HOW WE WORK
Our standards are simple:
Craft hard. Move clean. Lead calm.
We care about doing things correctly, getting 1% better every day, and finding smarter ways to work without cutting corners.
During a rush, we don’t panic.
We communicate.
We stay organized.
We help the person next to us.
We take care of the guest.
And when the rush is over, the shop should still look like professionals work here.
THIS JOB IS PROBABLY FOR YOU IF…
You like being busy.
You notice what needs to happen without always being told.
You can talk to people.
You care about doing a job correctly.
You like working on a strong crew.
You want to get better at what you do.
You can handle pressure without bringing drama into the room.
And you understand that hospitality is making people feel like they already belong.
