FAQ

What is BK Lists?

A job board for Brooklyn, and only Brooklyn. Every post is a real job in the borough, listed by neighborhood so you can find work you can actually commute to.

Does it cost anything to look for a job?

No. Browsing and searching jobs is free, and always will be. You do not need an account to look.

Do I need an account to apply?

No. Each post lists how that employer wants to be contacted, and you reach out to them directly. We are not in the middle of your application.

How much does it cost to post a job?

Employers pay a flat fee per post. The current price is shown when you post -- start at the Post a Job link and the cost is listed before you pay anything.

How long does a post stay up?

Posts expire automatically after their run and drop off the board. If you are hiring again later, post again -- expired posts are not revived, which is how we keep the board free of jobs that were filled months ago.

Can I edit or take down my post?

Yes. Sign in and go to My Posts, where you can archive a post once the role is filled. Taking a filled job down quickly is appreciated by everyone using the board.

Where do the jobs come from?

Some are posted directly by Brooklyn employers. Others are collected from public listings elsewhere so the board stays useful even on a slow week.

I think a post is a scam. What do I do?

Tell us and we will look at it. As a rule: a real employer does not ask you to pay for training, send money, buy equipment up front or hand over bank details before you have worked a shift. Treat any post that does as a scam, and do not send money to anyone to get a job.
